PPM strives at all times towards a state of mind where everyone is
constantly aware of the possibility of injury and acts accordingly at
all times.
PPM is proud of its safety record which includes zero lost time injuries
since the beginning of 4th quarter 2007.
PPM has identified a number of values specifically applicable
to Safety & Health:
- All fatalities, injuries and occupational diseases are preventable
- No task is so important, and no schedule so urgent, that time cannot
be taken to perform work safely
- All hazards can be identified and their risks managed
- Everyone has a personal responsibility for the safety and health
of themselves and their colleagues
- Safety and health performance can always improve
- Safety and health considerations are integral to, and compatible
with, all other management functions
- Proper safety and health management will enhance rather than adversely
affect business delivery
- Working safely is a condition of employment.
PPM has developed certain principles specifically applicable
to Safety & Health:
- All services providers and contractors are accountable for the same
level of safety awareness that we expect of ourselves
- Risk assessments and a clean working environment are both imperative
in sustaining an injury free work place
- The legal framework of each country that PPM operates in provides
the basic minimum standard that PPM will adhere to
- All persons have the right to work in an environment that is protected
from dust, noise and any other health impacting occasions
- Personal protective equipment (PPE) will be provided as conditions
require and persons are expected to wear PPE when necessary.
PPM recognises that the HIV / AIDS pandemic represents a specific
challenge in South Africa and indeed throughout the continent of Africa.
PPM believes that the scourge of HIV / AIDS can be overcome and that
human dignity can, and must be maintained at all times. PPM has adopted
the following principles specifically focussed on playing a positive
role in this regard:
- No person will be treated differently on the basis of his or her
HIV status
- No person will be required to divulge his or her HIV status
- Should a person wish to disclose their HIV status voluntarily, it
will not be disclosed to others without the person's written consent
- All persons are actively encouraged to know their status by undergoing
Voluntary Counselling and Testing (VCT).
